Re: Not My Proudest Moment.
When I was a kid our 'across the street' neighbors, a retired military officer & wife, had intentionally carved out a circular spot in the linoleum kitchen floor and glued a quarter in it. It's embarrassing to admit how many times I fell for his gag and bent down to pick up the coin before remembering it wouldn't come up. He got a kick out of us whenever trying to pick that thing up. Every time - just belly laughs. Sure, I couldn't remember back when I was a kid, falling for the gag repeatedly over the years - but now, I'm almost 65 yrs old, it's one of my standout memories from my childhood. I get it now --- I'm so tempted to do it in my home. Our floors are ceramic tile tho - doubtful I could chip away a perfect circle. But yeah, I also envision laughing it up every time someone might fall for it. Us old folks find joy in simple things! |
