Our local mechanic had the same type of thing happen. He told us he left some tools on the OHC and when he asked his colleague to turn the engine over, one of the tools fell into the fan belt, which in turn, kicked it up into his face. our mechanic was reasonably lucky as he only has a small/medium scar above his right eye...

Gut-wrenching!! eww!
