Newborn Burned by Fallen Lamp at Neonatology Department in Hospital

The father of the newborn Ian R.A, reported a serious case of medical negligence that occurred in the Neonatology department of a Hospital in Venezuela.

According to the infant's father, the accident happened when a lamp used to provide light and heat detached and fell directly onto the newborn's body.

The impact and the high temperatures caused third-degree burns on his hands, fingers, and part of his face, affecting the area around his mouth.

The family's desperation is growing with each passing hour.

He stated that 8 days have passed since the terrible incident, and the baby still has not received the specialized medical care that his delicate condition requires.

The father, filled with helplessness, reported that, so far, no surgeon has come to the hospital to assess the injuries or to act promptly in order to try to save the infant's fingers. Therefore, they are demanding justice.

Re: Newborn Burned by Fallen Lamp at Neonatology Department in Hospital

This is breaking my heart. Poor little angel, oh my goodness. I’d be going ape shit on the nurses who were supposed to be looking after the baby. As if the poor little guy didn’t already have enough struggle being a preemie. Ugh, this pisses me off so much.

If I was his parent, at this point I would be hiring the guys on motorcycles to make sure the doctors and nurses pay more attention. Either shoot them, or carve off whatever the child is now missing.

I wonder if any of this has to do with the sad state of affairs after the earthquake.

Scared for life from birth. Those fingers are toast. They’ll be amputated without a doubt. Negligence doesn’t come close to explaining the father’s inaction or allowing this to happen.
