In utero, all humans have a "tail" and gill slits. These evolve as the fetus grows. Even though this is medical fact, I was almost burned at the damned stake in high school when I submitted a paper in Advanced Biology II discussing this. The small town where I am from in central Florida has MANY (most) citizens (a.k.a. my old teachers) that do not like anything that may sound like it is anywhere near evolution. This is a recessive trait of the human fetus that enables it to grow in the uterus, hence, no argument regarding evolution versus creationism. Bastard almost flunked me over that paper----I had to call in the big guns and have my godfather (an internal medicine specialist and chief-of-staff over a large local hospital) write a letter to the school board and explain my position in the paper and the reasoning behind it. I initally received an "F" that had to be changed to an "A+", grudgingly. Backwards assholes.......okay, everybody, I SWEAR that this was my only bitching for the night!!!!!
