Aw poor old/immobile disabled folks. People need to treat the elderly and infirm with respect, man.

Re: Nasty Bed Sores

Pressure ulcers are a reality of immobility. These are quite extreme, but they can have a quick onset. I can't speak for the American health care system, but in every institution I've worked in pressure ulcers that go beyond slight skin impairment are rare. The foot ulcers are likely from diabetics, and are truly hard to control. Once the tissue is damaged it's almost impossible to treat for some people. Neglect certainly happens, and with an overcrowded system (Canada and the US.) it often has more to do with overloaded staff rather than neglectful care.

Re: Nasty Bed Sores

But it doesnt even have to be from neglect i take care of my mom and she currently has one on her foot she is a very sick lady on dialysis with diabetes lupis CHF and whatnot and we are slowly but surely getting rid of it it is a really long process because she doesnt heal like we do if she gets a bruise its there for months the same with any cuts or anything they seem to last forever but yeah i understand the elderly and disabled do tend to get abused alot because people see them as weak but not all caregivers are terrible
