This is an abscess being drained out present near nail root or nail matrix. Abscess was highly tender, fluctuation sign positive, an incision was given and drained, cavity was cleaned out, packing done by betadiene soked gauze piece. Abscess at sides or around of nail are known as paronychia. Paronychia can be caused by bacteria (Bacterial paronychia), yeast ( yeast paronychia) and fungal paronychia by fungus. They are very painful, signs of inflammation like swelling and pain.

Exactly!!! I had similar to that and the pain I lanced it myself using common-sense precautions.
