Had a professor in college who was born without an ear lobe on his right ear, and instead of hiding it, he gauged it and put piercings all over his ear.

I guess in a way it was masking it, but the piercings helped. I doubt you're ashamed of it, it's pretty easy to overlook, but very cool indeed.
