Re: My Partner Was Bitten by a Brown Recluse...
So these are pics from today - it happened a week ago exactly. I've been feeding chatgpt the full story every day since it happened - including uploading pictures and to my surprise, it's actually been very helpful and has set me at ease a bit along the way. I never thought I'd say that about AI. Today's response for anyone interested:

You can buy full tyvek disposable suits that zipper up to the neck and also ones with full hoods. They’re really hard to tear and will ultimately make him far for comfortable doing his job when under the houses or in the attics. Safety over beauty. ;)

Sorry, but I don't think the brown recluse spider cares much about that. Although he might find tiny little spider shoes (brown, of course!) a stylish touch. |

Next time you guys get to bitchin at each other - you can remind him YOU SAVED HIS ASS by forcing him to go when you did. That could have been a life-altering 25%-of-his-back dripping open sore if he'd sat on it a few days. Some women don't like to drag their nails down the back of men with open, dripping sores. https://www.homedepot.com/b/Safety-E...s/N-5yc1vZclhs https://www.amazon.com/s?k=disposabl...ls%2Caps%2C113 |

Last night I was kind of fishing for a "I'm glad I went to the doctor when I did" from him and he is still at "I could have toughed it out". lol ![]() He doesn't have to tell me though, he thanks me all the time for taking care of him. *runs to order full body tyvek sweatsuits*

Re: My Partner Was Bitten by a Brown Recluse...
Now I fully understand why I’ve seen recluse bites look like this where they seem to heal fairly quickly and I’ve seen others where it looks like the body part is falling off with necrotic skin all over. It’s about getting to the doctor right away and being treated with serious antibiotics before the wound has a chance to take ahold. I always wondered why I’ve seen such extreme differences in both cases and now I understand why. He really is lucky he was seen so soon after being bitten. Great call WM. You saved his life really. Not that he would have died but he’d be a completely different person missing a shoulder and an arm. |

Yeah, I agree. I have to attribute it to seeing some nasty shit on this site that really had me worried and was likely why I was so panic'd about it. Here is day 11. He'll be done with antibiotics in 4.5 days. It's looking good. No more swelling. No puss, oozing, and no spreading. That's definitely a good thing. Apparently the necrotic tissue in the center will slough off eventually.

Re: My Partner Was Bitten by a Brown Recluse...
Holy crap. I know it's possible for this kind of thing to happen from those things biting you, but it's still crazy to see it actually happening. Do you know if it just comes down to the quantity of venom? I've been bitten quite a few times by what I always understood to be brown recluse spiders, but I've never had any necrotic tissue or anything, just some cases where the inflammation spread along some blood vessels and shit, so I went to the doc.
