Re: My Kidney Stone

A funny thing about the human body is that it doesn't always alert us to drink water when we 'need' to.

We will become Thirsty at some point to preserve Life in the immediate sense, but not always to remind us to drink enough water to prevent the avoidable formation of stones.

Most people tend toward underhydration even though most don't form stones.
Definitely. I've heard the sensation of thirst can be so weak many people mistake it for hunger.

Re: My Kidney Stone

K9, did you receive an explanation why inflammatory bowel dissease and kidney stones often go hand in hand?
"Kidney stones
These are probably the most commonly encountered kidney complications of IBD—particularly oxalate stones. Kidney stones are more common in Crohn's patients with disease of the small intestine than in the general population because of fat malabsorption. Fat binds to calcium, leaving oxalate (a type of salt) free to be absorbed and deposited in the kidney, where it can form into stones. The risk for developing kidney stones of this type is higher in people who have had a number of small bowel resections and are therefore more prone to dehydration. Their urine is more concentrated, a condition that is more likely to lead to stone formation. Symptoms may include sharp pain, nausea, vomiting, and blood in the urine. Kidney stone treatment calls for an increased fluid intake together with a low-oxalate diet (one that's rich in juices and vegetables)."

Re: My Kidney Stone

Yeah. Now I'm pissed about two things at least

First, you didn't tell me about the epic bowel movement which made Neph sound like a little girl.
Two, (I'm not pissed anymore). You might have passed a few without noticing!

Geez did you have to give me all that? All I wanted to say originally was "have you tried twerking"?
Ruined my momentum there, lady.

How are you holding up, honestly?
They think they are still in there because of the calcium that shows up in my urine.

I would love nothing more than for them to pass, without me knowing.

Re: My Kidney Stone

I've had two kidney stones
and one child.

I will take the 15 hours of labor, 4 hours of pushing and one emergency c-section over a freaking kidney stone, any day!

Re: My Kidney Stone

Most people are dead before forming stones.

If I was a lesser person, I'd have formed a stone.

I don't mean that mentally or nothing at all really.

My father drank himself to death. (After having 16 000 volts through him) I'll post the pics later :).

What I was getting at was through him, I have dehydration genetics somehow, and therefore would never get a kidneystone.

Them pics will be up in two or three weeks

I don't know...
