Nope. Not a trainee. Fully qualified. I'm difficult to get blood from and they really have to dig around. I bruise very easily too!  |

Crikey. IV drug users have very similar bruises if they go straight through a vein or miss a shot but I've never seen anything the size of that. I'm guessing the needle was very large gauge and she's gone straight through several times. Don't let it put you off giving blood if that's what you want to do. Good nurses will take a variety of measures including hot towels as a compress to dilate surface veins etc.

I give because I'm O+, the commonest muck around and O+ is universally accepted ie: everyone, regardless of blood type, can accept O+ blood. I forget which blood type is a universal recipient ie: they can take anyone's blood, I think it's A-.

Holy hell! I'm severely anemic and can't give blood. They always want me to take it though!  . I bruise really bad too and it always takes forever for them to heal. I don't blame you for not wanting to go thru all that again though!
