My Addiction to Cutting My Nails - Post Your Ticks
I have has this addiction to get rid of ANY cuticles on my fingers, I have four pairs of cutters. One at home, one at work, car and my bedroom. I sit at night and pick, even if there is nothing to pick. Sometimes my fingers get so sore and red I can barely put hot water on them. I have tried to stop but always find a way....anyone else have an issue like this? Ticks?

Oh my. You poor child! If I don't have fake fingernails, I will pull/cut the skin on the side of my nails until I create deadly craters of open wounds. What the frig is it with this? I have to wear gel nails. Otherwise, my fingers are a bloody mess. Been doing this for decades. |

Funny you say that, I ususally have gel on my nails. Even went as far to buy the whole kit to do myself, I slack...

It's called Dermatophagia, or Wolf Biter Syndrome. It's a form of OCD, which I am just about starting to recover from. Having said that, I think I just transferred the OCD behaviour into cleanliness and getting rid of dirt. Gah. |

i have to pluck out each and every hair in my pubic area, every day i'm a 49 yo guy, and i need to feel pain, i know im not alone with this one and yes it's a form of ocd and a cycle very hard to break :(

I pull out my hair when I'm anxious or upset, or sometimes just out of boredom. Sometimes I don't pull out the hair, but rather snap it off at the weak spot/split end. I don't have bald patches, just random patches of shorter hair.

I bite my nails until they bleed and I chew on my skin once my nails are too short to bite. It's a compulsion that disgusts me but I can't stop. Much like Spock said, my only other relief is brought by washing my hands frequently, which isn't much better for my skin really. Sorry you've got a similar fixation. |
