Mum Gives Birth to ‘real Life Mermaid’ Baby That Tragically Died 4 Hours Later
Kolkata, India. Muskura Bibi, 23, amazed medics when she delivered the baby born with fused legs in Kolkata, India, on Wednesday but tragically lost it just 4 hours later. The rare phenomenon is known as Mermaid Syndrome, or Sirenomelia, and was the second such case in the country and the fifth in the world. Muskura hadn’t gone for a sonogram and only discovered her baby’s condition when she gave birth in Chittaranjan Deva Sadan Hospital on Wednesday. The baby’s gender couldn’t be determined due to the rare condition. Dr Sudip Saha, child specialist at the hospital said: “I had never seen such a baby before. It is the first case of Sirenomelia in the state and second in the country. |

I don't know much about this condition but i wonder if it had had emergency surgery for a stoma for the bowel and bladder if it would have survived or is it more than just the legs and genitalia affected |
