As stated above the MRI machine uses magnets to generate an image. It is perfectly safe as there is no radiation emitted during the procedure. Only thing is laying in that tube can be claustrophobic for some people. X-rays release a small amount of radiation, nothing to worry about really. A CT Scan is basically lots and lots of x-rays and the radiation can be harmful to a foetus, particularly so in early pregnancy. Basically it is a balancing act when deciding whether it is worth risking exposure to the x-rays to diagnose a problem with the mother. |
