Re: Mother of Mentally Ill Son's Story
Thank you, DoubleZ! I miss them terribly, especially the last one. He was my late night bad horror moving watching buddy :) He lost a lot of friends in the past few years and my dad in 2008, got cut off of SSI because he never sent back the forms. What I don't know is if the hospital tried to detox him too quickly since I know nothing about the process. He didn't have his cane with him when he went to the hospital and tried to used the bathroom and fell. Then, he wanted to go home so they restrained and sedated him. I didn't think about when we visited him. We found him on his bedroom floor and he finally said he wanted to go to the hospital. He told his 3 kids he knew his system was shutting down. He was up and talking for two days, then sedated, he was in and out of if, off and on a ventilator, had his Cpap machine some days. Two days before his death, he was asking for food. His heart finally gave out. He was very much overweight, had an enlarged heart and liver, but, I guess all of the abuse on the body was too much that time. I don't know how my mother deals with it. The house is like a shrine and she talks to the pictures. She is 77 and had a stroke in 2004. The holidays are tough, but, I am thankful to have great nieces and a great nephew for the holidays! I love seeing their eyes get so big <3 Have a great holiday, if you celebrate and a happy and healthy New Year and thanks again |

Re: Mother of Mentally Ill Son's Story
That was very brave from the mother to tell such a personal and delicate story. A thought-provoking post. The loved ones of the mentally ill suffer as well, and lack of good and professional mental health services certainly isn't making the situation any better |
