Re: Missed Rectal Injury
Makes me shudder. Yes, bacteria can travel quickly and is merciless. A month recovering, I've been grumpy and complaining that I can't get out or do too much, can't go to work, sleep half the days away ...but after seeing this poor guy, I think I'll start counting my blessings. New Years Eve I was sent home from a local hospital (wonder if I'm allowed to post the name of the hospital that FAILED to send me antibiotics even though they knew I had a kidney infection) with pain killers after 15 hours in ER, no antibiotics, no follow up booked. I left with as much pain in my kidneys as I had arrived with. Three days later (at a different hospital!) I was found to have Bacteremia with Sepsis. I had developed pneumonia on both lungs in addition to experiencing a close call with a Crash Cart and a set of paddles after my heart did 'something' that caused panic in ICU. My platelet levels remain exceedingly high; 911 was the count at my last blood exam, my hemoglobin is very low and my potassium is high. There is also an unknown bacteria in my blood, which has been sent to the Canadian Lab for disease control or something, hoping to hear back on what it is ...Hanta Virus has not been ruled out (I had mouse poop on my bed on December 27th so they were concerned about that) but we've since caught one of the little bastards and he's NOT a deer mouse so it's not Hanta Virus in my opinion.
