In Memory of Baby With Cleft Lip and Palette, Along With HPE
There is an annoying version of,"Amazing Grace," playing in the background. It sounds like a child whose mother and/or father thinks she can sing. When Brooklyn's mom was pregnant, they did an ultrasound and said that her baby had HPE. It's a brain malformation where the brain doesn't form correctly. They said it would be a miracle if she made it to birth, and if she was delivered, she would pass within 24 hours. We were devastated. The doctors were basically trying to prepare us for the worst, so we prayed and prayed, and she was born on June 15th, 2012. She weighed 8lbs. Everything looked good, except she did end up with a cleft lip and cleft palette, so she had a flat nose, but she was so beautiful. The doctors said they didn't think she would make it 24 hours because she was having trouble breathing, but she fought and fought, and proved the doctors wrong. She got to go home, and at home, she was doing pretty well, she just couldn't keep her body temperature, but she was good. She ended up getting to the point where she was not looking good again, then they got hospice involved, and said it would be a miracle if she lasted longer than 72 hours. We still wouldn't give up, and she still fought through it. When she was 3 months old, she got surgery to have a shunt placed in her brain to drain the excess fluid that built up there. It went very well, as you can see in the picture. She was so content after. It worked for a long time, she was doing so well that the doctors could not believe it. They were shocked. Then she ended up getting pneumonia, became very ill and was in the hospital for three days. She fought it off, came home, and did very well, but then she stopped breathing in her sleep on the morning of February 9th, 2013. |

 damn. I think her's is the worst cleft lip/palate I have seen yet.

I am sorry if i offend anyone but that is 1 ugly baby..It looks like adolf hitler..But every thing serves a purpose and it can be put in a bottle and placed on the parents mantle or shelf.If they dont want it i am in need of some trinkets for my house.
