So, because of a former surgery on my optic nerves, my eyelids have been damaged, causing anything that gets in my eyes causes this reaction. Dust, hair, an eyelash, anything, causes this.

Treatment is lots of eyedrops, and occasionally using a q-tip dipped in eye drops or eye wash to scrape the film off. Heat also helps. I use an electric sleep mask with a small heating pad inside.

Sometimes it gets bad enough that my tears are pink from blood, which is just gross.

I am curious, how did the surgery cause this to happen? Is it a common complication? I'm sorry you have to deal with that!
