My nephew had something just like that. It took over three years to heal, simply refused to clear up. He had several operations and enough antibiotics to kill a small town, before it eventually closed up and went away.
I was warned that this particular operation can go that way. I'm just thankful, other than one infection, that it cleared up nicely. I fell damn sorry for your nephew
