According to the patient, several of her close family members suffered from similar tumours. A previous histopathological examination confirmed the diagnosis of cylindromatosis. The patient was treated under general anaesthesia with tumour removal and cleft skin transplantation. In the first session, the skin of the scalp was carefully removed by grooming into the subgal plane and following the avascular compartment. A thorough hemostasis has been used and a mastered splitting skin transplant was used to reconstruct the scalp. In a second session an excision of the skin of the neck and right ear was performed followed by a splitting skin transplant. In addition, several tumours were cut out of the upper body and legs. The patient recovered well after both surgeries. Transplant intake after both operations was excellent, with nearly 100 % coverage after 2,5 weeks. During a follow up examination 4 months after the first surgery, the aesthetic result of the surgery was excellent. The patient was finally provided with a matching wig covering the transplanted area. She experienced a huge improvement in terms of confidence and social interaction skills with an improved quality of life."
