Medical Malpractice

So I posted this a while back and then deleted it because of an active malpractice lawsuit which recently got settled out of court.

I went to the dermatologist to have a mosaic wart removed that was growing on the side of my right index finger.

Long story short, the dermatologist used too much liquid nitrogen and the wrong type of lidocaine (the type with epi in it). A couple hours later, my hand had swell and the pain was unbearable. I went to one of those quick care ER’s and thats when they informed me it was worse than what I thought. I only wanted some steroids for the swelling and pain meds.

I got dry gangrene and had it amputated three weeks later. I was awake during the procedure and even got to keep my fingertip. My wife filmed the amputation.

Pretty gnarly to witness one of your body parts being removed from your body.

*not my story

The two bottom photos were switched somehow.

Re: Medical Malpractice

fucking hell. that doc overused the nitrogen liquid as lidocaine with epi should be safe to use.
The myth that local anesthetics with epinephrine should not be used in the digits. Historical reviews1 and prospective series in more than 3,000 patients have documented that it is safe to use lidocaine (Xylocaine) with epinephrine in the digits. In addition, phentolamine may be injected to reverse digital ischemia hours later, if necessary.

If mishandled or misused, it can cause serious consequences or even death. Skin contact. Skin contact with LN can result in burns, blistering, and severe frostbite injury, which can occur within seconds of exposure. Skin damage from exposure to LN may be extensive enough to require surgery or amputation.
