Re: Me and My Friend Try to Slice Knives Out of Each Others Hands
Fucking hell, you're risking a fuckload of medical expenses with that shit. Do you know how much of a pain in the ass it is to repair and rehabilitate even a single lacerated tendon? A few years back, I got the genius idea to stab a wet, guardless, razor-sharp throwing knife into the sheet of plywood that my buddy and I had been using for target practice. I felt my hand slip ever-so-slightly, and then saw all the blood stream out of my pinky when I opened up my grip. I could literally see the yellow tissue underneath after I washed out the blood, but thankfully didn't see any bone. The next day, any slight little twitch of that finger was agony. So I decided to see a doctor. He said I had lacerated the distal flexor tendon on my pinky and would need surgery. Thankfully it was covered under my parents' insurance plan and I had a great hand specialist for a surgeon who, like me, also played guitar and knew the importance of getting it fixed up properly and ASAP. I also got lucky, because I found out after the surgery that it was only a partial laceration, and fair-skinned people like me don't throw down a lot of scar tissue. Eventually, I regained full mobility; but I had to go through 10 weeks of physical therapy at 3 sessions a week and exercises at home every 2 hours. Plus I had a splint on my hand the entire time. It took about 5 years for it to stop hurting whenever I played guitar, did a full day's worth of heavy lifting, or was out in the cold for too long. In other words, that one little slip cost a lot more than just money. They tell me it's even harder to repair and rehab extensor tendons, which are the ones on the back of the hand and fingers which you're risking here. So for fuck's sake, stop being stupid like this. Find another idiotic activity to engage in, one that will at least result in instant death and not months of pain and impaired mobility. |
