Mauled by Family Pet
Thank you. No problem it’s understandable. It’s a sad story, I had my dog for 10 years from a puppy, Id had multiple seizures around him and he’d always been there kind of watching over me as I came round. For some reason this time he obviously got really scared and in trying to bring me round/getting me to stop or whatever, this damage was done. One of my biggest fears was that he’d be put down but fortunately he was rehomed by a retired couple who love him to bits, but he was my best friend and I miss him every day. So pic 1 is the most recent pic taken a couple days ago after my surgery on Thursday. Hip bone was taken from my right hip to make the main structure which was put in place using titanium plates. Also repositioned some bits, removed some excess cartilage and put a couple of tubes in to try and help with breathing/tasting. Pic 2 was just before surgery showing how much ‘nose’ looked fully healed after pic 3. Pic 3 was the op where all of the previously inserted bone was removed due to an infection, a very annoying tube was put in to try and give me some ability to breathe and taste but it kept getting blocked and was very painful, I knocked it out in my sleep in the end so haven’t been able to breathe or taste for months which isn’t great. Pic 4, 5 & 6 are ones I’ve posted before just for a bit of background and progress tracking. *Not my story. *I apologize if they're out of order. |

Re: Mauled by Family Pet
This is my uneducated guess: can't some dogs smell a seizure coming on? I wonder if Schnootzie believed he could find and kill the cause of the episode? I know, it sounds pretty far-fetched (pun intended).

Re: Mauled by Family Pet
I have cough syncope and if I have an episode near my dog, she will lick my face until I come to. But damn, I never even considered the chance she might chew my face off when it happens. |

This is almost what happened to Isabelle Dinoire, the worlds first (partial) facial transplant recipient. She took pills and was out of it for so long her labrador freaked out/tried to wake her up and ripped off her mouth and nose. I think she said she first realized something was srsly wrong when the cigarette wouldn't light up due to her not having lips anymore.

Would the dog be a pit bull?
