Manual Crushing of Cyst on a Wrist.
A ganglion cyst is a noncancerous lump, often on the tendons or joints of the wrists and hands. The condition can interfere with joint movement. A ganglion cyst is typically round or oval, and small. It can be painful if it presses a nerve. A ganglion cyst often clears on its own. If troublesome, it can be drained or removed. |

For centuries these have been referred to as Bible cysts, because treatment typically meant smacking it with the heaviest book available... the Holy Bible.

Re: Manual Crushing of Cyst on a Wrist.
I've had one of these for probably the last 10-15 years... only a small-ish one in my right wrist, but it can make things like weightlifting a little painful in certain movements. Definitely going to get it drained though... the idea of just smacking it sounds like it'll cause more damage than the cyst!

Re: Manual Crushing of Cyst on a Wrist.
I've wondered where the jelly like crap inside the cyst goes when they pop them like this. What damage it can cause throughout the body? They'll most likely refer you to an orthopedic surgeon. The wrist has a lot going on in there and they'll know best where to aspirate from. They numb the skin and drain it with a larger gauge needle. (Rare occasions they'll cut someone open to remove them.) |
