Man Suffering Psychological Problems Jumps into Rock River, Wis
March 11, A man is recovering after the Janesville Police Department states he intentionally jumped into the Rock River Monday afternoon. The incident started around 3:00pm when Rock County Dispatch received a 911 call from a man who said he was going to jump off the Center Avenue Bridge in Janesville. The phone line then disconnected. Officers arrived and found the man on the West side of the bridge. As they approached, he climbed over the railing. Officers tried to negotiate with him, but police say the man stopped talking and jumped into the river. He was pulled from the river by the Janesville Fire Department's water rescue team and taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. |

To the man who recorded this instead of going to talk to and help this individual, go to hell. I would have called police then immediately went to the man's aid. What's wrong with these people?

I would not have had the patience to sit there and record some guy standing on a bridge. After about a minute or so, I would have said fuck this, he ain't gonna do shit, and would have stopped recording and went on about my business.

The rock river is very shallow with a jagged rock bottom. You can walk across it in most spots. He probably didn't survive that

Ya know, it's not always that simple. There were already police officers up there talking to him. They're trained for descalating this sort of thing. Someone w/o the proper training could easily have made the situation worse. The more you know.  |
