A young man set himself on fire at Al-Saraya intersection, in the centre of Gaza City, after Hamas imposed a traffic violation on him.

The 23-year-old, identified only as H.D., set himself on fire in protest against the imposition of a traffic violation against him, after which he was taken to hospital, where his condition was described as moderate.

This is not the first time that citizens of the Gaza Strip have committed self-immolation, in light of the difficult economic conditions, mainly caused by the blockade of the strip by Israeli and Egyptian forces, and exacerbated by unfair taxes and irregularities levied by Hamas.
