Re: Maggot Hand
Maggots are actually beneficial with wounds. They don't attack healthy tissue, only consuming dead and rotting material. In the U.S. they apply a group of maggots, then cover them with a gauze containment fence and let them work. That way the patient doesn't have to watch them while they are working. The only thing left after maggots is healthy, clean, pink healing tissue. All the nasty stuff is removed by them. (pus, dead skin cells, burn debris, etc, For patients with massive damage or poor circulation, maggots are a god-send. (They are medical maggots, not just ones they found on a dead cat and gathered up.) If you think I am BSing you, go Google it.

Re: Maggot Hand
Info i got is it was after long term covering with gauze, so it could be on purpose. I am aware maggots are used in medical settings but it looks out of control here no?

Re: Maggot Hand
I don't know. I'm not a doctor and I don't play one on TV, but it looks to me like that hand is at the end of the maggot repair. It has a lot of bare pink skin areas, with only a few spots that are still grungy. So maybe as someone suggested, they just removed the first batch and are ready to put the second batch to work. I understand they only work for a few days, then have to be replaced as they move to their next growth stage. I don't know how long they stay at the maggot stage before they move on to being more like flies or whatever. (Maybe Hermanshocker or some of the body farm experts can comment on this.) I have a body farm, but it's not like those namby-pamby research places that are so stylish now, with, like, REAL scientists who know what they are doing. I'm no expert anyway. I guess you could say my body farm is more of a "free-range" operation. (Just DON'T say that, as I don't need another raid with hundreds of cops and investigators running around and tearing up the landscape with their fancy-dancy corpse dogs, or hamsters, or whatever the fuck they always use!) Just because I specialize in cheerleaders, everyone gets upset. JEEZ! Bunch of whiners! |
