Have spent just shy of $12,000 AU on my Labrador with his autoimmune and allergy disorders. He's happy as Larry as a result.

Just had a $1200 emergency vet visit when my cat showed up back home after missing for a week all skin and bones with a terrible injury to his throat. God knows what happened to him.

$1400 for a hip replacement for my kitty
$100 a month for a bottle of insulin + cost of syringes for 2.5 years for my other kitty, who was diabetic (RIP)
I totally get it, our fur babies are family :)

I read through this thread and it restored my faith in pet owners. I always read about horrible animal abuse and I just seriously want to thank all you guys for being amazing pet owners.

There's nothing I wouldn't do for my dogs.

My Grandparent's dog cost them $10,000.00 when he tore up the underside of their trailer. He tore out phone lines (I replaced all phone lines, put in a new junction box and installed additional lines and jacks for all rooms at no charge of course), insulation, and tore huge holes all over in the sheathing that was under there. Total repairs and to cover the perimeter with a skirt was over 10 grand. Then a few weeks later he got bit by rattlesnake. Grandma wanted to put him down but I persuaded her it would cause Grandpa to go down even faster because by that time Grandpa was ailing and the dog was by his side much of the time and providing comfort. So another $1,000.00 for anti-venom. Grandpa died a couple years later and when the nurse came to check his vitals the dog stood in the way and refused to let her near Grandpa. She had to call my aunt over to pull the dog away.
After Grandpa died Grandma moved up to Oregon and rented a small house. The dog, Harley, went with her. Unfortunately Harley was even more of a problem living in a town. He stole things from the neighbors like throw rugs, clothes and anything he found of interest in their yards or on the porch. One day he just didn't come back from one of his early morning raids.
A few months after that Grandma started having more health problems and died.

My dog,Mickey, had a heart complaint. He had his own Cardiologist at RVC and he got to live an extra 2 1/2 - 3 years with medication.

It cost about £6,500 or $10,500 to keep him with me for that time and I wish he could of lived on but the Reaper came 3 weeks after his 5th birthday.

I miss my little pal SO SO much

Have a wonderful adventure "Up there" Mickey and I look forward to seeing you when the time is right

woooahh thats alot of cash, for at cat life, but its her money so who cares .by the way allways consider are the animal going to function like an (normal) animal after threadment at the vet, sometimes its more painful to keep animals alive with serval handicaps due to operations and medications than just put them to sleep.

My wife gave up her Lasik eye surgery to pay for our Jack Russells surgery. He had Glaucoma and had to have an eye removed and a prosthetic eye implanted. He was 4 yrs old when this happened. He was back to normal within 3 months. Looked like he was winking at you. We never had another problem with him. He passed away last year and was 15 yrs old. Best dog I ever owned. He was her baby and my best friend. Well worth the expense. Would do it again. Miss you Finster.
