I had comminuted leg fractures years ago (left and right tibia and fibula) and after a day or two I noticed on my thighs I had 'L' and 'R' written on with a thick black marker. I asked one of the doctors what all that was about. He reassured me by saying it was so if they had to amputate one of them, that they wouldn't cut the wrong one off.  |
