Leontiasis Ossea: Lion Face Pattern in Pakistan
Leontiasis ossea is overgrowth of the skull and facial bones that produces a lion-like facial appearance. It is a physical sign, not a single disease. The pattern can occur in Paget disease of bone. Another rare possibility is craniodiaphyseal dysplasia, a disorder involving extensive thickening and hardening of bones, particularly those of the skull and face. These changes can cause severe deformity. Facial appearance alone cannot establish the underlying disorder, and the course depends on its cause. |
