Re: Lathe Accident

What happened to his left side? Did he lose his arm?

Bet this wasn't in the U.S. Everybody is too thin.
OSHA would have been all over them for the work area clutter.

Re: Lathe Accident

I am not familiar with what a lathe was, but I just kept watching, full of suspense! lol! Googled and saw that other lathe accident where the man was decapitated and mangled. Bloody. Yikes.

Hope this dude will be okay..

Re: Lathe Accident

Knew what was going to happen long before it did. In wood shop, we were always told, "No jumpers. No long sleeves. No long hair untied." And we still had one dickhead wear a jumper whilst using a lathe, and sure enough, he got his fingers dislocated.
Yup we were always told NOT to wear gloves while using the router.

Re: Lathe Accident

The video made it pretty obvious but I still had to look up what a lathe is

Re: Lathe Accident

And that is why you don't wear loose clothing around machinery.

Re: Lathe Accident

Woodworking tools will cut off a finger or two, or slash your arm. Then you'll have some stitches for a week or so.

But metal lathes, and milling machines, and other metal working equipment, are geared down so they run fairly slowly, but once they grab you, they will tear you into pieces, from one end to the other.

Re: Lathe Accident

I had to watch to the end to make sure the lathe didn't laugh with an evil smile. Great post!
