Labia Minora Removal: Female Circumcision Pictures
Female genital mutilation (FGM) includes procedures involving partial or total removal of the external female genitalia, as well as other harmful procedures performed for nonmedical purposes. It is classified into four types: removal of the clitoral glans or hood; removal involving the labia minora, sometimes with the clitoral glans and labia majora; narrowing of the vaginal opening by creating a covering seal; and other harmful procedures such as pricking or cauterization. Type IIa specifically means removal of the labia minora alone. More than 230 million girls and women alive today have undergone FGM, and more than 4 million girls are at risk each year. FGM has no health benefits. Consequences can include severe pain, bleeding, infection, childbirth complications and psychological problems. It is internationally recognized as a violation of the human rights of girls and women. |

That looks like a labiaplasty, not removal of the clitoris which is clearly still present. I don't understand why women would choose to do this? |
