I've done this but not quite that bad. My whole finger got infected. I just bite or clip them now. Lesson learned.

Hangnail? ripped it off? And it went right up under and around the cuticle to the cuticles on the beginning of the nail? AWCH!!!
Now all he needs is something acidic.. like lemon or vinegar..that'll make it all better.

Seems to me that the hangnail probably came from the fact that the guy appears to bite his nails down to he quick.

I keep my fingernails trimmed that closely, but I only use a flat-contoured toenail clipper. I very rarely get hangnails.

I use the flat-contoured toenail clipper (as opposed to the smaller, curved-contour fingernail clipper) because I get better results. I can clip them shorter with less over-cutting than I used to with the traditional fingernail clipper. (That, and the larger size gives better leverage and cuts cleaner, IMO.)

Either way, that picture is NASTY! Very cringe-worthy, indeed.

Nopenopenopenope not even gonna look at the picture. Reading the comments has given me all the information I need. The one thing I cannot bear for one second is anything involving fingernails and toenails. Literally makes me feel faint. Nothing else does really.
