~Infected Abscess On Diabetic Foot~
An abscess is the collection of pus that has accumulated within the tissue of a body. In patients with diabetes, any infection in the foot is potentially serious. Diabetic foot infections range in severity from superficial paronychia to deep infection involving bone. Types of infection include cellulitis, myositis, abscesses, necrotizing fasciitis, septic arthritis, tendonitis and osteomyelitis. Patients with diabetes are particularly susceptible to foot infection primarily due to neuropathy, vascular insufficiency - decreased neutrophil function. This abscess is caused by infection following a traumatic injury in a diabetic patient, unfortunately the toe had to be amputated. |
