In yet another case of alleged love jihad, a man named M.I. in Karnataka stabbed his wife A.B., (earlier A.P.) 23 times with a machete as revenge for leaving him.
The case has been deemed as another example of Love Jihad because 'M' was already married and had three children and when 'A' discovered this lie, she sought a divorce.
The gruesome incident took place in the Gadag district of Karnataka on Thursday, (10th March 2022) and as per the latest reports, the victim is in critical condition at a local hospital in the city.
From the beginning, 'M' lied about everything and told 'A' that he works as an auto driver in his free time as he was pursuing his education. On the other hand, 'A' hailed from a good family and has studied MBA.
However, 'A' against her family’s wishes married 'M' in 2018, converted to Islam, changed her name to A.B., and started following wearing a burqa and hijab.
'A' who is a Brahmin also started consuming meat and completely abandoned her Hindu traditions after 'M' forced her to convert to Islam.
Meanwhile, 'A’s family decided to reconcile with her daughter and developed a cordial relationship as the couple had a son
But some time later, 'A' discovered Ijaz had lied to her and was already married and had fathered three children. This discovery of betrayal led 'A' to move into her parent’s residence in Gadag district along with her two-year-old son and she filed for divorce at a local court as 'M' began to torture her.
That is why in a fit of rage, 'M' chased and stabbed his estranged wife collapsed to the ground covered in her own blood. After the deadly attack, 'M' left the crime scene and the Gadag police are now looking for him.
A.P., who later changed her name to A.B., was allegedly stabbed more than 20 times with a machete by her husband, M.E.S., for seeking a divorce from him.
The incident took place on Thursday in Gadag district. Karnataka police have arrested the accused and a case has been registered to further investigate the matter.
When approached by Hindustan Times for a comment the Gadag Superintendent of Police and the Investigative Officer refused to respond.
According to reports, 26-year-old 'A' had found out a year ago that her husband 'M' was already married and had three children, which he had concealed from her. She had then moved back to her parent's home in Gadag, while working at her private job.
'A' then filed for divorce, and the matter was supposed to be heard before the court last week on Friday. Reports say 'M' followed 'A's movements for about two days and attacked her with a machete on Thursday in Gadag when she was learning how to ride a scooter near her house.
Neighbours and locals then rushed 'A' to the hospital where she is currently being treated for her injuries. Around 22 knife injuries were found on her body.
The police said 'A' and 'M', who were in a relationship for some time, got married in 2018 although 'A’s parents did not approve of it. The couple also has a child.
In a video being circulated widely on social media, the survivor can be heard saying “Don't marry outside your dharma."
She has also alleged, 'M' had first sexually assaulted her, video recorded the act and blackmailed her for marriage. “'M' threatened to hurt my mother and me. I was forced to eat non-vegetarian food after my marriage. Not even my two-year-old baby is recognizing me,” 'A', who is an MBA-graduate, said in a video after the incident.
According to local media reports, the accused had been married for 14 years to his first wife. 'M', who is an auto-rickshaw driver, allegedly also hid his profession from 'A', saying he was pursuing a course, and that auto driving was a part-time job.
