My youngest brother did running from my younger brother when we were kids.. (he was 9 yrs old.) Was running over dumpsters/cabinets outside. Fell and got hung up in the armpit on a 6 inch spike in a fence.. Lucky lil' guy.. didn't even need stitches.. They did life flight him (Helicopter transport) to a larger hospital in a different city than ours. The spike entered the armpit, point stopped in his neck. First fear was major artery..missed all of em.. Then they checked larynx/trachea..clear. missed all major blood vessels.. Kept him over night in fear of oxygen entering the wound. Dodged that one as well  .Was sent home, couldn't stitch it up.. left it open the entire time due to concern of air being trapped in the wound. |
