Hydrocephalus and Cyclopia in Calves
Hydrocephalus is a congenital brain disorder that is relatively common in calves. Inheritance and vitamin A deficiency have been implicated. Affected calves often have a characteristic dome-shaped head and may have seizures, lethargy and altered mental status. Cyclopia is a congenital abnormality in which there is only one eye socket. It is a separate condition from hydrocephalus and also occurs in pigs. |
