OK people, I normally get preachy about guns and LE... but here's, from what I've learned from my nursing/med contacts, do this:

1) Wash your fucking hands, even if you use gloves; trim and/or scrub under your fingernails. Shit happens and you might have to change gloves (tears, etc)... if you want to be best, use Hibiclens on both the subject and the incisor prior to the procedure;

2) Sanitize the instruments to be used... grandpa's way was fire... dad's way was mecurichrome... now we use betadine... but if you're living a 3rd-world or hippy-existence, boil those instruments for 10-minutes at a full-rolling boil; if you can, boil the dressings you're going to use in sopping up the effluence *if they are not sterile dressings*;

3) If you have the luxury of sterile anesthetic, use it; don't use ice cubes as they are not sterile;

4) Use multiple incisions if possible; squeezing can push infective effluent back into other tissues; minimize squeezing as you able.

Other than that, pretty please, go to a fucking doctor, K?
