I looks like maybe a an accident where the wedding band got stuck or stuck on something and had to be removed. You can see it in the first pic. They probably sewed it onto the abdomen to keep nerve and tissue supply intact for a reattachment.  |

seen similar cases and same procedure was applied. there was a post here with the whole hand sewn on the tight.
