He Was Bit in the Foot by a Jaguar
A dumb 14 year old kid in Mexico disregarded safety warning signs and climbed a security fence of a jaguar enclosure at a zoo and even came too close to the second fence and was grabbed in the foot by a Jaguar.  He was transported to the Hospital.Hope someone filmed the attack.  |

Great fucking job putting the tourniquet way up there! he probably could have his foot saved, but with the tourniquet that high he's going to lose the whole leg below the knee

I'm mixed on the placement of the tourniquet. You lot are saying it's too high, and I'd have agreed. But I refreshed my first aid 2 days ago, and the instructor told us to place above the knee, due to the gap in the Tibia and Fibula not allowing the same level of compression as a single bone because of the gap between them. Regardless, I don't think it needed it. Didn't look like he was at risk of bleeding out. |

Yes what I was saying is the tourniquet was unnecessary I didn't see any real bleeding let alone uncontrolled bleeding. Tourniquet should not be used in first aid. Too many people see them and think they know how to use them tourniquet is a last resort that saves a life at the potential expense of every thing below. Direct pressure will stop or limit most bleeding. |

Sorry mate, I may have misread. I agree too, the potential for further damage is too great, I'd only use if absolutely necessary. I've got enough stuff in my kit to pack a wound if needs be, and that's what he said. Fill it until you can't fit anything else in there. They'll clean it up at hospital, as long as you stop the leak.
