Guy Slipped Falling Face First Onto Wooden Stick

Kamil Podwinski amazed nurses by walking into the A&E ward without moaning but with a 15-inch stick sticking all the way through his head.

The 40-year-old man told nurses he was working on his house in Konin when he slipped and fell face first onto a sharp piece of wood.

According to the New York Post, the wooden steak entered Mr Podwinski’s face just below his eye socket and came out through the back of his neck.

Fire crews had to be called out for backup when baffled hospital staff feared they would not be able to get the piece of wood out of the man without causing further injury.

Fire service spokesman Sebastian Andrzejewski said: “We got a call asking us to help remove a piece of wood from a man’s face.

“When we arrived, it was sticking out at quite an angle and took quite a bit of effort to shorten it without causing further damage.

“It wasn’t a case of just snapping off the end. It was tricky, but we managed it and he didn’t complain or seem worried at all.”

The wooden spear was so large that nurses were unable to x-ray Mr Podwinksi as he could not fit in the machine properly, so he was transferred to a different hospital in Poznan.

Remarkably, Mr Podwinski was reported to have stayed calm throughout the entire ordeal and the spike was removed without any trouble.

A hospital spokesman said: “We were able to remove it and the man is now recovering. It’s a miracle it didn’t take the eye out or cause serious damage.”
