Re: Guy with Intestines Inside His Scrotum
Back when I had a hernia in the late 90's into the 2000's, mine didn't look that bad. Even years after my surgery, I still have a bit of extra skin from when the hernia extended from my lower abdomen...

Wow, what a difference. My surgery only required one small incision, and even now I'd have to point it out to you because it's so faint. That's mostly because I don't develop scar tissue like most people (thanks mom & dad). |

Re: Guy with Intestines Inside His Scrotum
The pain is excruciating when you stand for long periods of time. My guess is probably the equivalent to a woman having really bad menstrual cramps. And the surgery recovery is something similar to having a C-section. Not nearly as bad, but very similar because they have to cut into the stomach muscle, push the intestines back in, insert the mesh on the inside of where the hole is, sew the mesh to the abdominal muscle area, sew up the hole, then stitch you up. The procedure only takes about 20 minutes, but they still knock you out. And the recovery time is a few months. Being an active weight trainer, it was difficult not to work on my abs during that time, but give or take 4 months of recovery, I was doing light abdominals in no time. It's very common for power lifters and professional body builders to get hernias. Most of the areas range from the sternum, to the belly button, and down to the lower abdominal area. In my case, I was too scared of the primitive procedure they had to correct it, which was to stitch everything up and leave you with serious long term complications - like bending over or stretching your abdominals. Sometimes surgeons didn't align the muscles correctly when they stitched you back up, which caused those problems. But over the years, they developed the mesh technique, so I waited until I heard some feedback from patients. Now, I forget I even had the surgery. |

Re: Guy with Intestines Inside His Scrotum
I've had Two different hernia repairs in my life, one when I was 10 years old, 1990. And my second when I was 29 in 2009.. First surgery they did mesh. As they did in second surgery. Oddly.. I had the same surgeon BOTH procedures. Differences between the two, first surgery, larger incision, and the recovery was horrid..couldn't walk etc for like 3-4 days. Second surgery, small incision, recovery was like nothing.. no sweat. but my hernia was a LOT larger.. And yes..excess skin.. lol Got like 4 inches of excess scrotal skin. First surgery I put off, was ashamed..like wtf is wrong with me? (I was a kid) Second surgery? Put it off due to work, then was too busy drinking up until 2008 (2nd Hernia occurred around 2002-2003) Crazy shit.. |
