Bull-runner spectator suffers terrible injuries after one of the animals pins him against a fence and gores him at an event in Spain
A man has been left with serious injuries after being gored during a bull-running event in Spain.
The 54-year-old, named in local media only as JG, suffered wounds to his arm, chest and 'anal area' after being pinned to a fence during the event in Medina del Campo.
JG underwent urgent surgery at the scene before being transferred to a hospital in the city of Valladolid where he remains in a 'very serious' condition.
The incident happened during the final day of bull-running on Saturday around 9.15am, according to El Norte De Castilla.
The bull was being escorted through a section of fields near the start of the route by horse riders when it broke free.
Video captures the moment the young bull descends on JG, who is pinned up against a chainlink fence bordering a nearby cheese factory.
For almost a minute, the animal gores the man with its horns, despite the efforts of passersby to scare it away.
The horse riders are also unable to drive the bull off at first, since it is facing away from them.
Eventually the bull withdraws its horn, which appears to be covered in blood, before running away towards the urban section of the route.
JG is left in a crumpled heap against the fence until a police vehicle arrives to take him to hospital.
He is the only person to injured during the event, El Norte reports, though several other bulls had to be put down after running off the route and injuring themselves.
The city council of Medina del Campo said that 'it is an isolated incident' but 'we have to say it is recommended not to stand where the incident happened, according to the rules.'
Jose Maria Magro, local councillor for tourism, said: 'The municipal rules said that participants are banned from standing in that area.
'The behaviour of the horse riders was fine as it was not possible to get to the scene on a horse without the risk of things getting worse.'
