Guts Exposed After Man Survives Machete Attack By Mentally-Ill Wife
A 64-year-old man identified as B.N.d.S., known as P., was injured with machete blows late yesterday afternoon (18) in Salvaterra and had his viscera exposed. Even so he survived, after a difficult treatment, and is awaiting transfer to a bed in Belém. It is suspected that P.'s wife caused the injuries after a mental breakdown. The case would have been discovered by P.'s neighbours in the village of Santo Antônio, who heard screams coming from the victim's residence. When they arrived, they found the man all bloody and with his abdominal viscera exposed. The residents administered first aid and called the fire brigade for rescue. P. was taken to the Municipal Hospital of Salvaterra, where there was no surgeon, and then transferred to the nearby town of Soure, where P. was refused treatment by the doctor on duty and was sutured by nurses from both hospitals, after much confusion and pressure from family members. The police have not yet given any information about the investigations. |
