That and food bits and bacterial fossils (!) are what produce calculus, the hard crumbly "plaque" on teeth. (There's calcium in saliva.) Real plaque is an invisible fine bacterial/food coating brushing removes. Tonsiliths/tonsil stones are calculi trapped in the pockets of the tonsils. Knowledge is power! |
