I yelped like a bitch when I had a calf-split and sutured during a hiking trip. We were on a good trail, but a major-step rock gave way and split the living-fuck out of my calf. I'm on blood pressure meds, so I bled like a inmate-fresh-from-a-1-on-1. Didn't hit a gusher, so I told them to sew it up...gergh. :S

No major anaesthetic (other than the few beers we were saving for the top.) Getting sewed without anaesthetic is better than dying from the other, but a bite-belt would've been better.

And we did that on a mountain that didn't involve major-scrambling because we wanted to hike-up-one before our wives found-out. (We didn't play golf. We hunted and/or shot. Neither was available that weekend, so we improvised. ;) )

I love hiking. I live in an area where hiking is vomitously-boring, but I've learned to take pleasure in the migratory birds that come about.
