Re: Girl Got Bit By A Bull Shark in Ft. Lauderdale
Bull Sharks, or Zambezi Sharks, are unusual in that they can live in the sea or in rivers. They are very aggressive predators and are probably involved in the majority of shark attacks on humans, far more than Great Whites. Attacks by Great Whites are pretty rare, which is why when someone is attacked it makes news.

Re: Girl Got Bit By A Bull Shark in Ft. Lauderdale
I've been going to Ocean City, NJ (a few miles south of Atlantic City) for the majority of my life. I love walking the beaches both at dawn and dusk because the beach is most-alive at those times. I've seen shark dorsal fins in the shallows several times during those hours, but I've never seen them there during high-daylight hours. That's part of the reason that they don't have lifeguard coverage outside of peak-sunshine hours. It discourages folks from swimming when the sharks are feeding. That, and they're cheap bastards trying to trim the budget. But they started doing it for the right reasons, IMO. :S (But for the most part, I love my OCNJ. :) ) |
