I have that disorder. It started in 4th grade. I had pulled out so much hair and the teacher asked me if it was mine - I denied it. Now at age 50 I am again plagued by this awful disease. I cannot stop pulling and eating my hair! I pick the hair from my teeth with tweezers! My psych said that it is a very difficult disease to treat and that there are no drugs that fix it. |

I've heard a few urban legends that say this sort of thing can become worse if you're into the habit of not only chewing on your hair, but swallowing your gum as well.
