The doctors actually leave them on because that's really the only way to tell where the dead tissue ends. It's dry gangrene, there's no infection. That one is probably close to being removed. Sir Ranulph Fiennes got tired of waiting for the doctors to remove his frostbitten, gangrenous fingers so he did it himself. |
