She was totally OCD and a hoarder. She insisted on having wipes, condiments, used stuff in her bed. She had a total meltdown when some of it was thrown away. I can't imagine what her house was like.

That is interesting. I wonder what drove her to that?
Denial. We had many patients come in with visible malignant tumors, but they ignored them because they were scared of what COULD be a diagnosis. The longer they put off a diagnosis, the longer they could pretend nothing was wrong with them.

It's the delusion for me. They obviously see what's happening and it never gets better. Burying their heads in the sand only makes death come quicker.
