Frostbite to the Hands and Feet
3rd degree frostbite to the hands and 2nd degree frostbite to the feet. at the beginning of the progression hands and feet were only slightly red. at the end wet gangrene is in the patient's feet and hands. finally the patient made the fatal decision to not let the doctors amputate feet and hands.

Marcusbr, the skin and nerves and blood vessels, everything is dead. That's it! I'm going to learn shuffleboard and move to Miami Beach. |

The dark coloration is due to liberation of hemoglobin from hemolyzed red blood cells which is acted upon by hydrogen sulfide produced by the bacteria, resulting in formation of black iron sulfide that remains in the tissues. The line of separation usually brings about complete separation with eventual falling off of the gangrenous tissue if it is not removed surgically. from CharonBoat.com |
